Reflection #2 Changes in Christianity by the Time of the Council of Nicea, AD 325

 There were a lot of things that had happened in the time of the Council of Nicea at AD 325. One thing I've learned is that there were persecution provoked struggles or conflicts among Christian leaders and those conflicts also produced by false belief. For example the Montanists we found the struggles in the church resulted in the false belief that sin could be classified as "mortal" and "venial." That belief continues in the Roman Catholic Church. The second thing I've learned is that there were influence of other religious and cultures. As rapid growth continued to bring baptized unbelievers into church membership, false belief and practices became more common. That false belief are the magical power seen in the Lord's Supper and in baptism illustrate wrong belief. Right before false belief are already existed. I have learned that the first attempt to mix Christian and false belief came through a kind of legalism. Legalism says a person becomes a Christian by obeying certain laws which it differs from the New Testament teaching that says one become a Christian by trusting and submitting to Christ. The second is that Paul practice of leading Christ Gentiles to Christ brought him into conflict with the group called Judaizers. The Judaizers said that if a Gentile were to become Christian, he would have to become Jew first.  Judaism is differ from Christianity. Judaisms is more on the law but Christianity is grace. Sometimes we Christians are being like legalistic. When people sins against us we were like Judaizers. Instead pf being gracious to our enemies we choose not to forgive graciously. Law is a standard but since Laws is not the one who could save us because only by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. First is believe on what is the truth.
