Reflection #2 Changes in Christianity by the Time of the Council of Nicea, AD 325
There were a lot of things that had happened in the time of the Council of Nicea at AD 325. One thing I've learned is that there were persecution provoked struggles or conflicts among Christian leaders and those conflicts also produced by false belief. For example the Montanists we found the struggles in the church resulted in the false belief that sin could be classified as "mortal" and "venial." That belief continues in the Roman Catholic Church. The second thing I've learned is that there were influence of other religious and cultures. As rapid growth continued to bring baptized unbelievers into church membership, false belief and practices became more common. That false belief are the magical power seen in the Lord's Supper and in baptism illustrate wrong belief. Right before false belief are already existed.
